Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has launched a significant humanitarian operation, immediately dispatching a specialized search and rescue team and an initial 100-ton consignment of relief goods to assist the flood-affected population in Sri Lanka.
According to NDMA information today, the relief mission, organized in close collaboration with the Pakistan Armed Forces, includes a 45-member Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team from the Pakistan Army, which departed for the disaster-stricken area today.
The substantial relief package is equipped with critical life-saving and support items, including rescue boats, dewatering pumps, and life jackets, to aid in the ongoing recovery efforts.
Furthermore, a mobile field hospital is also being deployed to provide immediate medical care to individuals impacted by the widespread flooding.
In a separate but coordinated effort, the Pakistan Navy has also delivered assistance to Sri Lankan authorities for the flood victims.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) SAIF, on a port call at Colombo, promptly initiated Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations for the local populace.
The naval aid package delivered by PNS SAIF comprised essential provisions such as food staples, Meals Ready to Eat, dry rations, first-aid kits, and emergency medicines to augment the ongoing national relief efforts in the country.
