Pakistan today strongly denounced the Israeli cabinet’s decision to assume control of Gaza City, labeling it a dangerous escalation in the ongoing conflict against Palestinians.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif criticized the move, asserting it would exacerbate the humanitarian situation and obstruct peace efforts.
Sharif emphasized that the core issue fueling the tragedy is Israel’s continuing occupation of Palestinian territories. He argued that as long as the occupation persists, peace will remain unattainable.
Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to the rights of Palestinians, including their pursuit of self-determination and the creation of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, consistent with UN and OIC resolutions.
The nation urged the global community to promptly intervene and halt Israel’s aggression, safeguarding civilians, and ensuring humanitarian assistance reaches those in need in Gaza.
