ISLAMABAD:Pakistan says it continues to ensure security of all diplomatic missions in Islamabad and a notice on Swedish Embassy’s website is misleading as the security situation in federal capital is normal.

This was stated by Foreign Secretary Dr Asad Majeed Khan while talking to Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan Henrik Persson here in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Ambassador informed the Foreign Secretary that temporary closure of the embassy is a transitory measure because of an unforeseen situation, which would be rectified soon.

While clarifying that the Embassy is not totally closed, he said Pakistani students desirous of applying student visas are being directed to the Swedish Migration Agency.

The Foreign Secretary impressed upon the Ambassador that Pakistani students should be facilitated to the maximum extent possible. The Ambassador agreed to resolve the issues in a quick and amicable manner.

On the occasion, they also discussed bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sweden and other issues of mutual interest.

The Foreign Secretary congratulated the Ambassador on the Swedish Presidency of the EU Council and thanked him for the support provided by the Swedish government in the wake of devastating floods in Pakistan in 2022.

The Ambassador shared his assessment on trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries and suggested ways and means to further promote them.
