Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, denounced Israel’s actions in Gaza during a high-level international conference in New York.
He described the region as ‘a graveyard of international law and humanitarian principles,’ citing the deaths of over 58,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children. The conference, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, focused on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian question and the implementation of a two-state solution. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan”s commitment to the conference”s objectives and praised the contributions of the eight working groups.
The Pakistani representative demanded urgent international intervention, including an immediate and permanent ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian aid, support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), accountability for alleged war crimes, and the revival of a credible political process for a two-state resolution. He also advocated for full UN membership and global recognition of Palestine.
Dar urged the conference to produce concrete commitments reaffirming the two-state solution, demanding Israel”s withdrawal from Gaza, supporting its reconstruction as per UN Security Council Resolution 2735 and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)-Arab Plan, and rejecting forced displacement, demographic changes, settlements, and annexation.
He applauded France”s recognition of the State of Palestine and encouraged other nations to follow suit. Pakistan, he declared, is prepared to offer technical assistance, capacity development, and support for the Arab-OIC Plan and any international protection framework.
Dar concluded his address by emphasizing that the Palestinian issue remains a moral imperative for the international community. He declared, ‘The occupation must end, and it must end now. It is time for freedom, self-determination, and statehood for Palestine.’
