Pakistan calls for transboundary water cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has stressed the need for transboundary water cooperation to deal with issues related to share water resources.

This was stated by Secretary Ministry of Water Resources Hassan Nasir Jamy at the UN Water Conference in New York, according to a Radio Pakistan’s report. He said Pakistan shares surface and groundwater resources with two neighbouring countries India and Afghanistan.

Hassan Nasir Jamy said within the South Asia region, population growth and increasing water demand, coupled with climate change impacts and ecosystem degradation, has made water cooperation even more imperative.
