ISLAMABAD:At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for a sustained dialogue with the Taliban to build mutual trust to achieve normalization in Afghanistan.

Speaking in a debate on the situation in Afghanistan in the UN Security Council, Pakistani envoy Munir Akram said security situation has vastly improved, the interim government is stable and there is no credible internal threat to the country. The envoy said the humanitarian situation remains dire, under the impact of climate change and sanctions, while unacceptable restrictions on women and girls have increased.
