Pakistan assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for July 2025, pledging to champion international harmony and collaborative problem-solving. The nation emphasized its dedication to the UN Charter, established international legal frameworks, and cooperative global engagement. Pakistan underscored its history of contributions to international security, notably through peacekeeping operations and diplomatic initiatives.

Adopting a transparent and consultative strategy, Pakistan outlined the Council”s agenda for the month. It stressed the necessity of a responsive and efficient Security Council to tackle multifaceted global security issues across various regions, including the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.

Pakistan aims to foster inclusive participation and productive discussions on all agenda items, acting as a liaison between the Security Council and the broader UN membership.

Two significant high-level events are planned. An open debate on fostering international security through multilateralism and peaceful conflict resolution is scheduled for July 22nd. A briefing on collaboration between the UN and regional bodies, specifically the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), will occur on July 24th.

Furthermore, Pakistan will preside over the quarterly open debate on the Palestinian question on July 23rd. Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan”s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, will chair all three sessions.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with all Council members to guarantee prompt and united action, aligning with the Council”s duties and global expectations.
