Kuala Lumpur:Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to enhance cooperation in rice exports, Halal certification standards, and food security.

According to Radio Pakistan, this understanding was reached during a series of high-level meetings between a Pakistani delegation, led by Secretary for National Food Security and Research Amer Ali Ahmed, and Malaysian officials in Kuala Lumpur.

The discussions emphasized increasing Pakistani rice exports to Malaysia. Additionally, the meetings reinforced Pakistan's active participation in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase, highlighting both nations' dedication to expanding bilateral trade, strengthening market linkages, and contributing to regional food security.

The two countries also explored enhancing collaboration in Halal certification standards and supply chains, aiming to facilitate greater market access and trade in Halal-certified agricultural and food products. Discussions included advancing cooperation in the Halal agri-food sector, covering rice, meat, poultry, fisheries, aquaculture technologies, animal vaccines, biosecurity controls, and Halal gelatin supply.

These engagements demonstrate the shared commitment of Pakistan and Malaysia to building stronger agricultural partnerships, expanding bilateral trade, and promoting safe, quality, and Halal-certified food products.
