Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar asserted that Pakistan has laid bare what it considers India’s malicious intentions behind the recent Pahalgam attack.

Speaking at a Regional Dialogue organized by the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad on Monday, Dar announced that Pakistan is calling for a United Nations Security Council meeting to address the escalating tensions between the two nations. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan intends to present facts to the Security Council to counter what he described as baseless allegations from India.

Dar elaborated that recent actions by India, which he described as politically motivated and highly provocative, threaten regional and international peace. He argued that the Pahalgam incident was a diversionary tactic to sidestep India’s internal challenges and ongoing human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Furthermore, Dar declared that Pakistan is prepared to defend its sovereignty, citing a recent incident involving Indian fighter jets that were swiftly countered by Pakistan’s air force. He reassured that Pakistan’s armed forces remain vigilant and ready to respond to any threats.

Addressing concerns over the Indus Water Treaty, Dar reaffirmed that Pakistan will not relinquish its rightful share of water, ensuring compliance with the treaty’s provisions. He stressed that Pakistan will not tolerate any attempts to divert or restrict its water supply.

Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, urging renewed efforts under UN auspices to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, which he identified as the primary source of instability in South Asia. The Deputy Prime Minister called for a peaceful resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
