Pakistan has officially declared that terrorism emanating from Afghanistan constitutes the “gravest threat” to its national security and the safety of its populace, urging the Afghan interim government to fulfill its international obligations.

According to a report by MOIB today, speaking at a United Nations Interactive Dialogue, Pakistan’s Counsellor Muhammad Jawad Ajmal asserted that numerous terrorist organizations are operating from sanctuaries within Afghanistan, creating a severe cross-border security challenge.

He identified specific entities, including ISIL-K, TTP Fitna Al Khwarij, BLA, and the Majeed Group, which he stated utilize Afghan territory and terrorist camps as hubs for orchestrating infiltration and attacks against Pakistan.

“Like any sovereign state, Pakistan will exercise its right and duty to regulate its borders and will not compromise on our national security,” Ajmal affirmed during the dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan.

Beyond the security concerns, the Pakistani representative also expressed serious apprehension regarding the Taliban’s policies. Ajmal highlighted the “discriminatory policies, practices and restrictive measures that exclude women and girls from their right to education and employment.”

Despite these pressing issues, he reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to the goal of a stable and prosperous Afghanistan, viewing it as essential for lasting peace and stability in the region.
