Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti today emphasized that reconciliation between India and Pakistan is essential to halt the ongoing cycle of violence in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a visit to Naidgam area of Gandarbal, Mufti lamented that the residents of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering due to the animosity between the two countries.

‘The people of JandK are stuck in the animosity between the two countries. Their lives and their property are getting destroyed because the two countries are fighting each other,’ she stated. She noted that even non-local laborers are adversely affected by the ongoing conflict.

‘Until both countries sit together, talk cordially, and take the path of reconciliation’ India will continue to witness such incidents, she urged.

She declined to comment on National Conference President Farooq Abdullah’s recent remarks and just asserted, ‘Every person in JandK, not just Mehbooba Mufti, wants this violence to end and that the two countries sit together and talk so that we can get out of this bloodshed.’
