Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, today ordered heightened security and surveillance throughout the federal capital.
This development follows a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office in Islamabad, attended by all Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and Superintendents of Police (SPs).
IGP Rizvi reviewed an extensive security strategy aimed at protecting Eid congregations, cattle markets, recreational sites, and commercial hubs. He directed law enforcement officials to bolster monitoring, conduct snap checks, and intensify patrolling across the district, ensuring the safety and protection of residents and their property.
This year’s Eid-ul-Adha will see over 3,500 officers and personnel deployed across Islamabad to execute the security blueprint. A specialized plan for “chand raat” focuses on securing markets, shopping centers, and other bustling areas. Patrols will be conducted on foot, in vehicles, and on motorcycles, while rigorous checks are set to occur at the city’s entry and exit points.
IGP Rizvi stressed the importance of utilizing Safe City cameras for effective district-wide surveillance. He also highlighted the need for efficient operation of help desks to provide swift responses to public grievances, urging all control rooms to remain fully functional with enhanced communication systems.
Extra attention will be given to the security of significant buildings and places of worship, with surprise checkpoints established citywide. Patrolling units, including the Dolphin Force and Ababeel Emergency Response Units, will amplify their efforts to maintain order.
IGP Islamabad affirmed that citizen safety and convenience are top priorities, urging officers to motivate their teams and maintain oversight. Concurrently, initiatives for police force welfare during Eid will be implemented. ‘Our foremost duty is to protect Islamabad’s citizens and uphold peace,’ he asserted.
This comprehensive security initiative underscores the commitment of Islamabad Capital Police to safeguarding the community during one of the most significant Islamic festivities.
