Minister for Irrigation and member central committee Pakistan Peoples Party, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani on Wednesday said that more than 18 new dams were being constructed in different districts of the province, including Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Chattar and Lehri, so as to save rain water from being wasted besides controlling flood situation in the mentioned areas.
Talking to PPI, he said the construction of dams would bring about agricultural revolution in those areas, adding that for excavation of Patfeeder canal, handsome amount had been allocated by the federal government.
The minister said that barren lands of Naseerabad would be cultivated with the water from Kachhi Canal. He said that PPP had always taken steps for the development of Balochistan, adding that it had been prioritised to provide ample job opportunities to the people of Balochistan.
He said directions to the authorities of district administration Naseerabad had been issued to provide relief to the flood affectees of Chattar, Mir Hassan and Drabi areas of Naseerabad. He said that a network of metalled roads would be laid in Naseerabad besides establishing the office of NADRA in Mir Hassan area of district Naseerabad.
