The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) 2025 Security Survey reveals enhanced safety in Pakistan’s main business centers, but Balochistan”s security situation remains a concern.
The survey, covering June 2024 to May 2025, indicates over 70% of foreign investors observed a drop in significant offenses in Karachi, Lahore, and Punjab. Street crime also decreased noticeably in these cities, and two-thirds of respondents felt safer commuting.
Despite advancements in metropolitan areas, security remains a top concern for CEOs. Balochistan, in contrast to other regions, experienced a rise in serious offenses. Quetta and Peshawar, while seeing a moderate decline in street crime, are still considered less safe.
OICCI Secretary General M Abdul Aleem acknowledged the positive trend in major cities, but emphasized the need for nationwide improvements to maintain momentum and build investor trust.
Overseas business trips to Pakistan held steady compared to 2024. Fewer meetings held abroad suggest growing confidence in Pakistan”s internal security. Rare instances of delayed travel were mainly due to geopolitical issues, not domestic security. The OICCI reaffirmed its dedication to working with government and law enforcement to foster a safer business environment throughout Pakistan.
