North Korea fired two cruise missiles from west coast town of Onchon this morning (Wednesday).

The launches come a day after South Korea and the United States kicked four days of preliminary joint drills in preparation for long-suspended live field training Ulchi Freedom Shield, to be started from 22 August to 01 September.

Meanwhile, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has expressed willing to provide phased economic aid to North Korea if it ends nuclear weapons development and begins denuclearisation.
