No stalemate between Govt, opposition on appointment of ECP members: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has rejected the impression of any stalemate between government and the opposition on the appointment of members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In his tweets on Tuesday, he said Prime Minister Imran Khan will get opinion of the Leader of the Opposition on the issue in accordance with the Constitution. He noted that a strong Election Commission, on which all political parties have confidence, is in the interest of Pakistan. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan has waged a struggle for a transparent system.

Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said the government also wants to move forward with an open heart on electoral reforms and NAB laws. He said we want consensus in the parliament on all major issues. He said stability of the political system lies in the respect for constitution. He said consensus on elections, accountability and national security will give stability to the political system.
