Karachi: Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab said on Friday that we will not allow the peace of the city to be destroyed in any way, as we have established peace in the city after a lot of struggle and sacrifices.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference held at Frere Hall in the city. Mr Wahab said that no one would be allowed to take law into their hands. Wahab said: “I am disappointed that attempts are being made to disturb the law and order situation.”

He urged the caretaker chief minister, the home minister, and police authorities to take notice of the deteriorating situation in the city and provide security to the public so that citizens could vote for their favorite candidates.

The mayor said that five days ago, the office of PPP South District General Secretary Karamullah Waqasi was attacked, adding the miscreants could still not be arrested while some people were only doing politics of putting blame on others.

The Karachi mayor said that the political parties using KMC properties to put up their panaflexes and banners should pay their rent to KMC. “Those who call me the Qabza Mayor have themselves occupied the pedestrian bridge of KMC, when we tried to remove the political flags from the city on the orders of the Supreme Court, the KMC staff were beaten up. Our war is a war to serve this city.”

He hoped that the Election Commission of Pakistan would conduct free and fair elections through which real representatives would reach the assembly and a real revolution would come.
