Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Thursday that there is neither forgetfulness nor forgiveness for the perpetrators of last year’s May 9 violence in the country.

In a message in connection with last year’s May 9 mayhem, issued on Thursday, Maryam labeled the incident a dark chapter in Pakistan’s history, orchestrated by individuals driven by avarice for power.

Referring to the attacks on defense installations and state properties, including the historic Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar, she declared the perpetrators had crossed a red line, aiming to undermine national institutions, particularly the military.

The Punjab chief minister asserted that those tarnishing the nation’s honor deserved no clemency and pledged that justice would be served swiftly to those consumed by hatred. She assured the public that measures were being implemented to prevent a recurrence of such events and that the perpetrators would be consigned to history.

The daughter of former three-time premier Nawaz Sharif reiterated the nation’s awareness of those involved in the May 9 events, emphasizing their true nature and pledging to safeguard against future instances of violence.
