Pakistan has called for dialogue and diplomacy to de-escalate the escalating conflict in Ukraine. Delivering a national statement at the UN Security Council emergency meeting on Ukraine, Pakistan”s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, welcomed initiatives spearheaded by the United States to promote discussions.

Ambassador Ahmad noted the high-level contact between the US, Russia, and Ukraine as positive developments amidst the grim situation. He emphasized the importance of continuing these endeavors with increased diplomatic efforts, greater engagement, and structured, sustained negotiations. The Pakistani representative stressed the need for earnest and persistent efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
