Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has directed National Disaster Management Authority and all provincial governments to expedite the relief assessment survey in flood-affected areas of the country particularly in Balochistan.

He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Friday, to review progress over flood relief activities.

The meeting decided that provinces will collaborate with Benazir Income Support Program for immediate disbursement of cash to the people affected by flood.

Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz briefed the meeting that data related to flood-affected areas will be shared with the provincial governments for reconstruction and rehabilitation of these areas.

Representatives of four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan informed the meeting that immediate measures were being taken and medium and long-term planning is also underway in collaboration with NDMA.
