The National Party voiced support Sunday for the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) protests, urging authorities to release over 300 political workers detained under Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) in Balochistan and to ensure the safe recovery of all missing persons.
National Party leaders Aslam Baloch and MPA Kalsoom Niaz addressed a press conference, criticizing the government’s actions in the region. “The National Party was with BYC, is with BYC, and will remain with BYC,” they said, claiming that civil martial law had been imposed in Balochistan for the past week.
They blamed the state and the current undemocratic government for the province’s turmoil, labeling it a “puppet government of Form 47.” The leaders alleged that authorities blocked major highways and roads to prevent people from attending a BYC public meeting in Gwadar.
They also reported that a convoy of protesters traveling to Gwadar was fired upon in Mastung, injuring 14 demonstrators. The National Party called on authorities to produce all missing persons before the courts, warning that the situation would continue otherwise.
