National Conference manifesto calls for PakIndia talks to resolve Kashmir issue

The National Conference has released its manifesto for the upcoming socalled Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, emphasizing the need for Pakistan and India to engage in talks to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute.

According to a Kashmir Media Service report on Wednesday, the manifesto addresses other issues like restoration of Articles 370 and 35A, repeal the draconian laws like Public Safety Act (PSA) and political empowerment, economic development, social justice and cultural preservation from Hindutva onslaught.

The NC advocates for renewed dialogue between India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir dispute in the interest of peace in South Asia. The party emphasizes that the aspirations for peace among the people of IIOJK should drive this diplomatic engagement. The NC has pledged to fight for the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A, which granted occupied Jammu and Kashmir a special status before their abrogation in 2019.

The manifesto promises to repeal the controversial PSA, which has been criticized for its misuse in detaining individuals without trial. The NC argues that the PSA has been used to stifle dissent and that its repeal is necessary to restore civil liberties in IIOJK. The NC reiterates its commitment to fully implementing the pre1953 political rights.

It is worth mentioning here that proIndian political parties and leaders always make big promises and claims before elections to gain power, but after coming to power, they work for India and speak its language, not for the Kashmiris.
