The nation will celebrate Pakistan Day on Sunday, March 23, with renewed commitment to work tirelessly for the country’s progress, stability, and prosperity.
The day commemorates the historic Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940, which laid the foundation for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia.
The day will begin with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals, followed by special prayers in mosques after Fajr for the peace, prosperity, and unity of the country.
A Pakistan Day Parade will be held on a limited scale at Aiwan-e-Sadr due to the holy month of Ramadan. President Asif Ali Zardari will grace the occasion as the chief guest. The parade will feature contingents from all three branches of the armed forces, with a special flypast by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets.
In the afternoon, an investiture ceremony will also be held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where President Zardari will confer awards and medals upon distinguished individuals in recognition of their exceptional contributions in various fields.
To mark the occasion, ISPR has released a special patriotic song titled ‘Meray Mehboob Pakistan – Meri Jaan Pakistan.’ The song carries a powerful message of unity: ‘Aik Dil, Aik Jaan, Aik Pakistan.’
Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television (PTV) will air special programs throughout the day to highlight the importance of Pakistan Day and pay homage to the pioneers of the Pakistan Movement.
