ISLAMABAD:Pakistan’s first woman Astronaut Namira Salim called on caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi here in Islamabad on Friday and apprised him about her preparations for space journey, beginning on October 5.

The Minister felicitated her on embarking on the space journey. Expressing his best wishes, he said Namira Saleem is a role model for all women.

Murtaza Solangi said Namira’s journey is a symbol of Pakistan’s growing presence in space exploration, which is a major achievement for the nation.

He said with this effort of Namira Salim, Pakistan’s positive image as peace-loving and progressive country will be highlighted. The Minister said the young generation can project the image of Pakistan in diverse sectors of life.

On the occasion, Namira Salim expressed resolve to hoist Pakistan’s flag on space. It is pertinent to mention here that Namira had hoisted the flag of Pakistan at the North Pole on 21st April, 2007.
