NAB playing significant role in preventing corruption: Chairman

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is playing a significant role in preventing corruption and saving national resources.

This was stated by NAB Chairman Lieutenant General retired Nazir Ahmed, while addressing a ceremony here in Islamabad on Monday.

He said since its establishment, the NAB has recovered 6.1 trillion rupees directly and indirectly. He said in the current year, Rs3.8 trillion, equivalent to 13.57 billion dollars, have been recovered, which is the largest recovery in a single year.

The Chairman commended NAB Karachi, NAB Sukkur, and NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their impressive performance this year.

He said Karachi and Sukkur regions indirectly recovered 1.8 million acres of forest land, saving Rs2.4 trillion and Rs1.1 trillion, respectively.

Lieutenant General retired Nazir Ahmed said NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa made indirect recoveries worth Rs194. 937 billion.
