Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah addressing the party workers of Mirpurkhas division said that the promises Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made with the people of Sindh would be fulfilled in true letter and spirit.
“We are committed with you [people] and the cause is to eradicate poverty, usher in new vistas of development and create job opportunities to bring in prosperity in the province.” The meeting was attended by Sindh PPP President Nisar Khuhro, General Secretary Waqar Mahdi, MNAs Mir Munawar Talpur, Aftab Shah Jilani, MNAs Pir Ameer Ali Shah, Dr Mukesh Malani, MPAs, Local bodies representatives, local party leaders and workers.
Issues: The workers of Tharparkar told the chief minister that several RO plants in Thar were non-functional. The CM said that he has prepared an umbrella scheme to repair all the out-of-order RO plants functional in the larger interest of the people of Thar.
The workers pointed out that HESCO resort prolonged load shedding in the villages from Naukot to Mithi. Due to prolonged load-shedding, the villagers couldn’t The load shedding they could not provide water to their cattle. The CM instructed Minister for Energy Nasir Shah to talk to the HESCO authorities to resolve the load-shedding issue of the people of Thar. “The people producing cheapest coal-fired energy for the entire Pakistan cannot be rendered with energy,” he said.
The female workers of Thar told the CM that there was a single Girls college in Mithi where girls of the entire Tharparkar district were receiving education. The girls have no option but to resort to out-back daily. The CM said that the would talk to Minister Education Syed Sardar Shah to prepare a scheme for the hostel so that Girls students could avail the facility.
The party workers of Sindhi complained against the completion and remodelling of LBOD as it was flooding the lands of Jhudo and Sindhri. It was also pointed out that Sindhri needed a drainage system so that rain and saltish water (used agricultural water) could be disposed off. The CM said that LBOD has problems for which his government has been working to resolve its issues.
The workers of Thar also proposed the construction of more check dams in Tharpark so that water could be accumulated for agriculture. They pointed out that more than 70 check dams constructed in Thar have irrigated the water-starved lands and produced onions and other crops. These dams have proved to be a source of agro-activity and brought prosperity. The CM directed the irrigation minister to survey the area where check dams could be built.
The party workers of Mirpurkhas told the chief minister that Mirpurkhas to Mirwah road was in dilapidated condition which caused accidents daily. It is hardly a 16-km road that needs to be reconstructed on priority. The people also demanded the lining of Jamrao and Mithrao canals to save water and control water logging.
The chief minister was requested to order the desilting of Nara Canal along with removing its barriers to improve its flow so that small growers could receive water to irrigate their lands. He added that the drainage scheme of Sindhri has been worked out and would be carried out shortly with the help of the World Bank.
Murad Shah said that on the demand of the people of Mirpurkhas workers have posted a new medical superintendent in its hospital, and posted specialists so that necessary medical treatment could be provided at the local level. The chief minister addressing the party workers of three districts of Mirpurkhas Division said that he has already given proforma to the party workers to seek their suggestions for development initiatives. He announced for the establishment of Public School in Mirpukhas.
He said that the party workers of Umerkot have demanded a beautification plan for their district headquarters. “I want you to send me your beautification package for Umerkot in writing so that I can show it to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari,” he said. Mr Shah said that he heard the issues of party workers and issued directives for their resolution at the local level.
Sindh PPP President Nisar Khuhro, MNAs Mir Munawar Talpur and Aftab Shah Jilani also spoke on the occasion.
