Mohsin Naqvi Unveils Comprehensive Counter-Terrorism Strategy

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi underscored a unified front in the fight against terrorism during the second meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee.

The meeting drew participation from top officials, including Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and representatives from key security agencies.

Naqvi pointed out the alignment between the Prime Minister, Army Chief, and stakeholders in addressing terrorism, stressing the importance of provincial consultation. The session reviewed initiatives to bolster provincial Counter-Terrorism Departments, with special assistance pledged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Additionally, the activation of the Federal Investigation Agency’s Counter-Terrorism Wing was prioritized. The meeting also discussed progress on creating National and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centers. With plans endorsed for these centers, efforts are advancing to establish them nationwide.

Further decisions included transforming the Frontier Constabulary into the National Reserve Police and making explosive materials a federal subject for tighter regulation. Naqvi further committed to addressing terrorism concerns with Afghanistan via the Foreign Ministry and urged strict adherence to security protocols for foreign nationals.
