Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has categorically rejected allegations of illegal land allotment leveled against him by the Indian authorities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq termed the allegations as false and an attempt to malign and harass him. He clarified that his Nageen’s residence in Srinagar was purchased and built by his father, Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq, in 1973, and no current property in the area belongs to him.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is under continued house detention since May 3rd, stated that he had not received any intimation or notice from the authorities regarding the allegations. He believes that the allegations are a continuation of the propaganda carried out against him in 2018, which was later proven to be false and baseless.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Bureau had filed an FIR against Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and his relatives in a land allotment case related to his residence in Nigeen. However, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has denied any wrongdoing and termed the allegations as a politically motivated attempt to defame him.
