Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to install charging stations at all petrol pumps to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs), promoting eco-friendly transport.
He gave this direction while chairing the fourth meeting on the Electric Vehicles Policy; according to an official statement issued here on Thursday.
The Minister also announced that the top 120 students of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) would receive free electric bikes, while 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 electric rickshaws would be provided on subsidized loans.
The meeting reviewed the progress on the construction of 40 charging stations along motorways and highways. The Minister emphasized digitizing all processes for transparency and easy access to information.
He confirmed that, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, Islamabad will become a model city with widespread use of electric vehicles.
The Minister concluded by announcing that the Electric Vehicles Policy will be launched soon, further strengthening the country’s eco-friendly transport system.
