Federal Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has vowed severe repercussions for those responsible for the recent incidents involving the Musa Pak and Awam Express trains. Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Railways on Tuesday, Abbasi expressed profound dissatisfaction with the incidents and mandated immediate disciplinary action against negligent personnel.

He also commanded the implementation of stronger safety procedures to avert similar events. The minister’s directives encompassed immediate staff training, urgent track and signal system inspections, and prioritizing passenger well-being.

Abbasi insisted on prompt resolution of operational challenges, enhancement of railway workshops, and efficient disposal of surplus scrap. He also addressed drainage issues along rail lines, sanitation and water provision on trains, and mandatory inspection of train locks and fire extinguisher availability.

The minister further directed regular divisional inspections and mandated weekly reports from Divisional Superintendents, with monthly performance assessments in subsequent meetings. He underscored the need for railway officials to conduct field visits, emphasizing that lapses in track and train safety would be met with zero tolerance. All Divisional Superintendents participated in the meeting virtually.
