The Sindh provincial government has announced a significant increase in the minimum monthly remuneration for employees across various industries and businesses. Effective July 1, 2025, the basic salary has now been set at Rs 40,000.
Provincial Labor Minister Shahid Thaheem clarified the classification for different skill levels. Semi-skilled workers will receive Rs 41,380 per month, while skilled employees will earn Rs 49,628. Highly skilled individuals will receive a monthly salary of Rs 51,745. This standardized pay scale applies to all registered and unregistered businesses, ensuring equal compensation for both male and female employees. Establishments where workers are paid hourly wages will have to ensure a minimum payment of Rs 192 per hour.
Shahid Thaheem emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers. He highlighted the administration’s active pursuit of fair compensation, improved workplace conditions, and other pro-worker initiatives. This salary increase aims to mitigate the effects of rising living costs and provide a reasonable standard of living for the workforce. The Department of Labor maintains regular contact with business owners and promises strict enforcement of labor laws.
