Miftah thanks WFP for continued support to Pakistan by providing humanitarian assistance

Islamabad: Princess of Jordon Sarah Zeid Raád- World Food Programme (WFP), Special Advisor on Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition called on Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail here at Finance Division, on Thursday.

Mr Chris Kaye, Representative and Country Director- WFP, Mr Mahamadou Tanimoune, Head of Nutrition-WFP, Secretary Finance and senior officials attended the meeting.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail extended warm welcome to the Princess of Jordon Sarah Zeid Raád and thanked WFP on their continued support to Pakistan by providing humanitarian assistance.

The Finance Minister also highlighted various reform initiatives introduced by the present government for the social uplift of the masses. He especially apprised about financial relief provided by the government to the women through BISP programme and cash relief announced by the government for the flood affectees.

Support of the present government for women development, Mother and Child healthcare, nutrition facilities, children education were discussed in the meeting.

Princess Sarah Zeid apprised on WFP’s various interventions in diverse sectors in Pakistan and appreciated Pakistan’s constant support and assistance at federal and provincial levels.

She extended her assistance in a number of areas including humanitarian assistance, food and nutritional needs, financing poverty alleviation, women development etc.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail stressed all the development partners for extending broad based support and assistance to the recent flood affectees. The Finance Minister thanked Princess of Jordon Sarah Zeid Raád for promoting socio-economic development in Pakistan and extending full cooperation and support.
