Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab today visited several areas of District Central, including Nagan Chowrangi, Do Minute Chowrangi, Surjani, Sakhi Hasan, KDA Chowrangi, Hyderi and other localities, where he inspected on-ground drainage and cleanup operations.

He noted that teams of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) worked day and night to clear rainwater and ensure timely disposal across the city.

The Mayor underlined that the swift response of KMC staff prevented large-scale accumulation of water and emphasized that comprehensive steps are in place to address complaints quickly. During the visit, he interacted with citizens, listened to their concerns, and issued immediate directions for resolution. He observed that Gujjar Nullah is now flowing in its natural course, adding that the timely cleaning of drains helped avert a critical situation.

While inspecting Gurumandir, Jahangir Road, Federal B Area, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Sher Shah Suri Road, and other places, Murtaza Wahab mentioned that bags of stones and gravel were found at some choking points by the Water Corporation staff. However, the administration acted promptly to remove the obstructions. He informed that traffic has been restored on Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Shahrah-e-Aurangzeb, Rashid Minhas Road, and Sher Shah Suri Road. He also stressed that he is personally visiting areas where complaints arise to ensure immediate redressal.

During his visit to District West, the Mayor recalled the devastation in Yousuf Goth during the heavy rains of 2020 and 2021. He noted that a new major drain was constructed in the locality to improve the sewerage system. As a result, despite the latest downpour, water is flowing smoothly, and the streets remained clear of flooding.

Highlighting progress, Murtaza Wahab pointed out that all routes from North Nazimabad to Sohrab Goth have been cleared. He praised the dedication of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers and elected representatives whose efforts have led to visible improvements. He remarked that while critics limit themselves to rhetoric, the city administration’s practical work speaks for itself.

On this occasion, Deputy Parliamentary Leader in City Council Dil Muhammad, Town Chairman Haji Nawaz Brohi, UC Chairperson Zubeida, other elected representatives, and officials accompanied the Mayor.
