Muhammad Farooq, a member of the Sindh Assembly from Jamaat-e-Islami, expressed concern over the purchase of luxury cars for Assistant Commissioners while speaking to the media in the High Court.

Farooq pointed out the negative effects of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, stating that luxury cars are being purchased for officers with taxpayers’ money, while there is a lack of basic facilities in the province.

He further mentioned that issues such as children’s education, health, drinking water, and public transportation need to be addressed.

Farooq accused the Advocate General of misrepresenting the budget and stated that he had strongly opposed it.

He suggested that 1000cc or 1300cc cars are suitable for Assistant Commissioners, while purchasing heavier vehicles would incur additional expenses. Farooq noted that heavier vehicles will not only incur costs but also increase fuel expenses.

Jamaat-e-Islami intends to challenge this decision in the Supreme Court.
