Mass Promotions in Punjab Police, Over 6,000 Personnel Promoted to Next Ranks

The Punjab Police has announced the promotion of more than 6,000 officers and personnel to the next ranks during the year 2025, marking a significant year for what are reported to be merit-based departmental promotions.

According to an official report released today, these promotions were made across all levels of the force, with 38 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) becoming Superintendents (SPs) and 191 inspectors being promoted to the rank of DSP.

In the mid-level ranks, 1,047 sub-inspectors were promoted to inspector, 907 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) to sub-inspector, 1,054 head constables to ASI, and 2,562 constables to the rank of head constable.

The promotion drive also included 46 senior traffic wardens who were appointed as traffic officers.

Several administrative positions were also upgraded, including 80 senior clerks, 26 junior clerks, 19 assistants, seven senior scale stenographers, two stenographers, one private secretary, and one AD.

Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, formally recognized the occasion by personally pinning the new ranks on the officers and extended congratulations to all promoted personnel.

According to a statement from the IG, this latest round of promotions contributes to the more than 30,000 departmental promotions granted over the past three years. Dr. Anwar confirmed that a proactive schedule is in place for the next year’s promotion boards and that the service and promotion structure within the force has been improved.
