Mandokhail takes oath as Balochistan Governor

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sheikh Jaffar Mandokhail took oath as the 24th Governor of Balochistan on Monday, marking a significant development in the province’s political landscape.

Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court Hashim Khan Kakar administered the oath to Mandokhail in a ceremony held at the Governor House. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bhugti, cabinet members, ministers, and provincial assembly members.

Mandokhail, who has held several key positions in the Balochistan government including Finance Minister, Minister for Planning and Development, Minister for Education, and Minister for Revenue, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

The appointment was approved by President Asif Ali Zardari, based on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and in accordance with constitutional provisions outlined in Article 101 (1).

Mandokhail’s appointment comes after the approval of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, replacing Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, the BNP-M leader who held the post since 2022.

The swearing-in ceremony signals a new chapter in Balochistan’s governance, with Mandokhail expected to address various socio-economic challenges and advance development initiatives in the region.
