KARACHI:Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has said that it is a great tragedy that the long-standing problems of the citizens in Karachi are not resolved. The question arises why Karachi, the engine of the country’s economy, is being neglected continuously.

Citizens of Karachi have nothing to do with the future of any political party, they only want solution of their problems. The foundation stone of the new KMC council building in Bagh Karachi has been laid today now it depends on the incoming mayor how soon he completes it. Not even once in seven months did I ask the administrator Karachi for any personal work. The media is my last resort to raise these issues and take them forward, as the governor I will continue to highlight the problems of people living in Karachi.

He expressed these views while addressing the ceremony held on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of the new building of KMC Council in Bagh-e-Karachi Rashid Minhas Road and while talking to media representatives on this occasion. Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman, Municipal Commissioner Syed Shujaat Hussain, Director General Parks Junaidullah Khan, Senior Director Public Relations and Media Management Ali Hassan Sajid and other officers were also present on this occasion. Earlier, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori along with Administrator Karachi Dr Syed Saifur Rahman and citizens of Karachi unveiled the plaque and laid the foundation stone of the new City Council building at Bagh Karachi.

The Governor said it is a city with a population of one crore, but it has been counted till now only one and a half crore and the funds are received according to this calculation. If there is a correct census in the future, the number of members of the city council will increase even more, so the new building should have a capacity of 600 to 800 seats. The best press gallery should also be available in this building. He said that the citizens of Karachi must be included in the inauguration of all the government buildings in Karachi like today and the ribbons should be cut by them.

Governor Sindh said that there are many problems in Karachi, the roads and paths are broken, the city is under the control of various mafias, during the last seven months, even an honest man like Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman has been given funds for the development of the city. If the money is not given to him then who will get it? After a lot of struggle, we have cleared Bagh Karachi, which was previously called Alladin Park, from encroachments and begun developing a good park here with the cooperation of Asian Development Bank. I started the IT program in the governor house so that the future of our youth can get better.

Addressing the ceremony, Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman said that immediately after taking charge of the administrator, he had told the Governor of Sindh that a new building of the city council should be built because the existing city council has been renovated in different periods but now this 309-seat capacity hall was insufficient for the incoming 367-member council, therefore, it was necessary to lay the foundation stone of the new council hall. He said that the new building of the city council will cover an area of 12 acres, in which the council hall, mayor, deputy mayor, leader of opposition, chairmen of various committee’s offices, cafeteria and parking facility has been kept, this place is the center of Karachi, that’s why it was chosen, it is a great gift for the citizens.

I pray that this building be completed as soon as possible and that the municipal institutions flourish in this city and all the problems of the citizens are solved. It is only because of the compassion, love and patronage of the Governor of Sindh that we have been able to take such great steps. Municipal Commissioner Syed Shujaat Hussain said that today is a day of great joy for the citizens of Karachi, the credit for the construction of the new building of the City Council goes to the Governor of Sindh and the Administrator of Karachi.
