Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Muhammad Aurangzeb Khichi, has announced a series of initiatives to revitalize Lok Virsa, focusing on international cultural exchange and improved visitor experience.

The minister, during a briefing by Lok Virsa Executive Director Dr. Waqas, revealed plans to invite foreign companies to participate in the upcoming Lok Mela, fostering cross-cultural dialogue. Formal invitations will be extended to ambassadors from various nations to ensure global representation.

The meeting also addressed ongoing developmental projects designed to bolster tourist engagement. Dr. Waqas informed the minister that arts and crafts classes have commenced, with dance and music instruction set to begin soon.

Minister Khichi stressed the significance of maintaining impeccable hygiene standards, particularly in restrooms and dining areas. He emphasized that enhanced cleanliness would attract more visitors and project a favorable image of the institution. ‘Cleanliness is half of faith,’ he stated, underscoring its importance in boosting tourist numbers.

Further proposals included youth-oriented competitions in music, art, handicrafts, and truck art for individuals under 20, with prizes for winners. Similar singing contests are also planned for the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

‘These measures will not only elevate the institution’s profile but also revitalize fading cultural practices,’ Minister Khichi explained. Preparations for Independence Day celebrations on August 14 were also reviewed.

These endeavors, the minister affirmed, are part of a wider strategy to safeguard and showcase Pakistan”s diverse cultural legacy both domestically and internationally.
