Launching ceremony of Pakistan Navy’s third Hangor-class submarine held in China

Pakistan Navy celebrated the launch of its third Hangor-class submarine, PNS-M Mangro, in China. The ceremony, with Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Project-2, Vice Admiral Abdul Samad as chief guest, marked a significant milestone in the nation”s maritime defense strategy.

Vice Admiral Samad reiterated Pakistan”s dedication to protecting its maritime interests and fostering a secure maritime domain. He highlighted the importance of the Hangor-class submarines in maintaining regional stability and balance of naval power.

The admiral also noted the project”s contribution to strengthening the Pakistan-China relationship.

The acquisition of eight Hangor-class submarines was formalized through an agreement between Pakistan and China. Four vessels are being constructed in China, with the remaining four slated for production at Karachi Shipyard under a technology transfer pact.

These submarines will be outfitted with advanced weaponry and sensor systems, providing them with long-range strike capabilities.
