LAHORE: The office of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore refused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold public rally at Lahore’s Liberty Chowk, it emerged Friday.

The DC office has submitted its reply in Lahore High Court (LHC) on the petition of PTI seeking to hold its rally at Liberty.

“A meeting of all the concerned departments were held on October 10. The PTI workers and leaders were found involved in vandalism during its protest on May 9,” the DC office said in its reply submitted to the LHC.

Therefore, the District Intelligence Committee refused the NOC to hold PTI its power show at Liberty.

Earlier, LHC justice Raheel Kamran had conducted hearing of the PTI plea requesting for permission to hold a rally at Liberty Chowk. During the proceedings, court inquired from the Punjab government about the issue and asked why the permission had not been granted so far.

In case of refusing the PTI to hold a rally, the court directed, the DC will have to elaborate the reasons behind that refusal.

It is worth mentioning here that additional secretary general PTI central Punjab had approached the Lahore High Court seeking permission to hold party’s rally at Liberty Chowk on October 15.
