Islamabad:Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has stated that the KP Police Act, 2026, passed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, violates the Constitution of Pakistan and the rules of the Police Service of Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chaudhry addressed a news conference in Islamabad, where he expressed concerns that the proposed law, which is set to be presented to the provincial assembly, would disrupt the command structure of the police force.

Chaudhry criticized the PTI founding chairman, who previously advocated for depoliticizing institutions, for now supporting a law that he believes would politicize the police department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He emphasized that provinces do not have unlimited legislative authority and cannot alter the rules governing the Police Service of Pakistan.

He also lamented that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to invest in modern equipment for the police force. In response to a question regarding the PTI's call for a long march, Chaudhry assured that all routes to the federal capital remain open, but emphasized that the Islamabad High Court's decision will be fully enforced to ensure the protection of people's lives and property.
