Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faces Backlash Over Mines and Minerals Bill

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Minerals Bill, 2025, has sparked intense criticism, with Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, urging a halt to the proposed legislation.

This outcry has primarily emerged from PTI leaders and social media activists, prompting Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur to address the issue on Tuesday night by refuting what he termed as “rumours and misconceptions” surrounding the proposed changes.

Aleema Khan, addressing reporters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, highlighted the significant public opposition to the bill, advocating for its postponement until Imran Khan, currently incarcerated, can review and approve it.

The bill, introduced in the provincial assembly on April 4, has faced strong criticism from lawmakers across both ruling and opposition parties.
