Kashmiris in Europe Highlight the Serious Situation in the Occupied Valley: Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry

At a critical juncture of the Kashmir dispute, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has appealed particularly to Kashmiris residing in Poland and Europe to intensify efforts to highlight the serious situation in occupied Kashmir. During a meeting with a Polish delegation at Kashmir House, President Chaudhry emphasized the need for an immediate resolution to the increasing human rights violations by India since August 5, 2019.

The Kashmiri leader highlighted the important role of the international community in acknowledging and acting upon these ongoing violations to include Kashmiri parties in the negotiation process for lasting peace in the region. Chaudhry noted the mediation offer from US President Donald Trump as a timely opportunity that could establish lasting peace in the region.

Chaudhry warned of the serious risks of escalating tensions between the nuclear-armed neighboring countries, Pakistan and India, which could lead to a conflict with extensive global repercussions. He stressed that sustainable peace in South Asia depends on a fair resolution of the Kashmir issue, in which the Kashmiri people play a central role.

The meeting also discussed the recent Indo-Pak ceasefire, which President Chaudhry attributed to the effective defensive operations of the Pakistani armed forces. He praised their bravery and urged the international community to ensure the right to self-determination for Kashmiris in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

With the support of influential Kashmiris abroad, Chaudhry hopes to accelerate global advocacy and ensure that the international community recognizes and acts against the injustices faced by the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation.
