Kanwal Cheema briefs leading Pak-American IT, tech entrepreneurs about MIM

“We are leveraging technology for poverty eradication, social integration and human security,” said Ms Kanwal Cheema, Founder and CEO of ‘My Impact Meter’ (MIM), a digital platform that connects global donor community with the beneficiaries across Pakistan.

She said by digitalizing charity, we are endeavoring to reinforce trust, ensure transparency and maximize our outreach, according to a press release received here on Wednesday from Washington DC.

Kanwal Cheema said we help donor community in reaching out to the poorest of the poor and extract them out of generational poverty by providing them with education, healthcare and vocational skills.

She made these remarks while addressing a gathering of leading Pak-American tech entrepreneurs, IT professionals and business leaders at Pakistan House, hosted by Ambassador Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States (US).

Welcoming Ms Kanwal Cheema to Washington DC, Ambassador Masood Khan lauded her work to synergize efforts for poverty alleviation and social integration. “With her intercontinental connections, she can be a good bridge between continents,” he said.

He said Ms Kanwal Cheema is a social entrepreneur, added. “We have introduced this technology platform to create a better understanding about her work and sequel should be better networking,” Ambassador Masood Kahn added.

Introducing MIM platform to the audience, Kanwal said that MIM had four pillars. “It is a mall of NGOs. We have got about 70 NGOs from Pakistan already and we get more every day,” she said.

She said that platform was ensuring complete transparency into the working of every NGO involved into the work of philanthropy and humanitarian work. “We have introduced digital vouchers for grocery and education,” she said.

She said the platform was also facilitating beneficiaries with vocational training enabling them to earn livelihoods and break shackles of poverty.

The platform, Ms Kanwal, said was also providing laptops and six months’ grocery to the under-training beneficiaries facilitating them to devote their full attention to the skills that they were acquiring to earn their living in future.

During interactive session, Ms Kanwal answered the queries with regards to the disbursements of funds, the privacy of the beneficiaries, and the success of the platform in helping people graduate out of poverty.

She thanked Ambassador Masood Khan for hosting her and helping her connect with leading Pak-US IT professionals and tech entrepreneurs.
