JUI-F leaders demand Sindh’s water share

LARKANA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-Fazal) Sindh general secretary Allama Rashid Khalid Mahmood Soomro and district Larkana President Maulana Nasir Khalid Mahmood Soomro on Monday said in a statement issued here on Monday that due to the handmade water scarcity, Sindh is looking as Karbala, so in Punjab, illegal link canals must be closed.

They said that they would not tolerate theft of Sindh’s water share. They said that due to the lack of water in Sindh, the standing crops on millions of acres were being destroyed. They said that fair and proper distribution of water from Sukkur Barrage should be ensured.

They said that it was shameful to deploy Rangers at Nara Canal and others to prevent water theft which was evidence of the Sindh government’s helplessness. They said that rulers were stealing water of small growers to make their lands fertile. They further said that the Sindh government had bowed down before IRSA, adding if IRSA is not distributing water properly, then whose responsibility is it to get accurate water share according to the agreed formula.
