Judge’s wife files pre-arrest bail plea in maid torture case

ISLAMABAD:Somia Asim, wife of a civil judge, who had allegedly tortured a 14-year-old mad Rizwana at her home, filed a pre-arrest bail application in Islamabad’s District and Sessions Court on Tuesday. In her application, she said that contents of the FIR registered against her were all fabricated. She further said that Rizwana worked at her home with the consent of her parents, and that she never tortured her. She claimed that Rizwana was 17, and not 14-year-old. “I have always given her affection just like I have given affection to my three kids,” she said, adding, “There was no complaint of torture against me prior to the incident in question.”

Somia went on to say that she was the victim of that campaign which was being run to vilify her husband, who is a man of good reputation. “Due to this campaign, I am going through mental torture these days,” she said, adding, “Since I am ready to cooperate with the police in the investigation, therefore, it is prayed to the court to accept my pre-arrest bail plea.” the Islamabad police have added eight more sections of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) to the FIR of a torture case involving a 13-year-old maid.

Section 324 (attempted murder) was added to the FIR in response to the statement of the victim’s father after it was made part of the police file through a case diary on July 26. Today, police also added seven sections to the FIR in response to the Medico-Legal Certificate (MLC) issued by the DHQ Teaching Hospital Sargodha. A police team is with the injured maid in Lahore and is in contact with the girl’s family and the doctors of the hospital where she is admitted. The team will bring the girl to Islamabad on the doctors’ advice after her condition stabilises, the officers added.
