Jordan has asked Israel to respect the historic and legal status quo in the Holy Aqsa Mosque and not violate it.

Jordan’s King Abdullah told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is on his first foreign visit to Amman since assuming office, that end to violence is crucial for resuming long-stalled peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel.

Netanyahu’s office said the two leaders also discussed regional issues, especially strategic, security and economic cooperation between the two states.
