Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh’s leader, Kashif Saeed Sheikh, emphasized the fair distribution of agricultural water in Sindh.

He stated that the water shortage in Sindh is causing difficulties for settlers and farmers. The collusion of influential people controlling the current canals is affecting the rights of ordinary farmers.

Kashif Saeed Sheikh mentioned that in several districts, including Badin, Thatta, and Umerkot, even drinking water is not available to the people. Due to public resistance, the plans for new canals on the Indus River have been temporarily suspended. The Sindhu Darya Bachao (Save Indus River) movement will continue, and a gathering is scheduled for May 18 at Jinnah Bagh in Karachi.

Kashif Saeed Sheikh strongly criticized the corporate farming project. He claimed that the People’s Party has left no stone unturned in auctioning off Sindh’s resources. Under the guise of corporate farming, millions of acres are being given to powerful entities. If the People’s Party is sincere with Sindh, these lands should be allotted to the local landless farmers.

In the gathering, Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh’s deputy leader Professor Nizamuddin Memon, Hafiz Mansoor Ahmed Abro, and Nooruddin Memon also spoke.

The leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami expressed their condolences to renowned poet Ayub Gul and journalist Aziz Rajar on the passing of their mothers. They prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and patience for the bereaved families.
