Italy Targets Karachi for Wastewater and Desalination Initiatives

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Italy’s new Consul General, Mr Fabrizio Bieli, convened at CM House to discuss bolstering investment ventures in the region.

The Chief Minister extended his congratulations to Mr Bieli on his recent appointment and assured him of Sindh’s support in enhancing trade and investment opportunities between Italy and the province.

During the discussion, Mr Bieli conveyed Italian investors’ interest in Karachi’s market, marking a potential resurgence of Italian involvement in the area.

The Chief Minister reminisced about past Italian contributions, such as the Tarbela Dam and the Karachi-to-Hyderabad Superhighway, noting the absence of significant projects since then. He identified wastewater treatment and desalination projects in Karachi as promising areas for collaboration under public-private partnerships.

Both leaders committed to working together to attract and facilitate Italian investments in Sindh, aiming for a renewed phase of economic cooperation.
