Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, met with Google’s Regional AI Developer Ecosystem and Communities team to explore collaborative pathways for advancing artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and innovation in Pakistan.

The Google team presented a detailed overview of their regional developer ecosystem, showcasing the impact of Google Developer Groups (GDGs), grassroots AI initiatives, and community platforms such as Taleemabad. Discussions focused on leveraging these efforts to expand community-driven AI engagement across Pakistan; according to an official statement issued here on Friday.

As part of the meeting, Minister Khawaja held an interactive session with the N+1 team, a group of young Pakistani developers who were recently ranked among the global top 10 in the prestigious Google Solution Challenge. The team represented Pakistan at the regional showcase in the Philippines, earning accolades for their innovative work.

Commending their achievement, the Minister said the success of N+1 underscores the potential of Pakistan’s tech-savvy youth and the importance of fostering such talent through mentorship and institutional support.

In a broader policy dialogue, Minister Khawaja outlined the government’s three-tier AI training strategy, focusing on: Mainstream education-from kindergarten to university, Workforce development, especially for freelancers, and Industrial innovation, enabling AI integration across key sectors.

She emphasized inclusive access to digital tools and support programs such as AI Seekho, sandbox testing environments, and cloud computing credits.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Khawaja called for deeper collaboration between Google and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT), aiming to strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global AI landscape while promoting equitable digital empowerment for all segments of society.
